I’m into alternative rock and indie music, it’s what I naturally gravitate toward, both as a fan and a musician. Since I play in a band, I’m always on the lookout for new sounds that might inspire us or shake up our rehearsals. The playlist below is a mix of artists we genuinely enjoy, and we update it now and then when something fresh catches our ears. Check it out if you’re into those genres! 😃
You might be interested in the Okoboji Writers’ Retreat then. They do writing of all forms including songwriting. I loved it! It was so much fun and I met so many people that love music as much as I do! Also Iowa isn't a bad place to visit. The people there are so inviting and amazing! 🫶🏽
My taste in music is all over the map, but one band I’ll never quit is UK’s Mumford & Sons. It’s not just the banjos, the guitar licks, or that dance-driving music that pulls me in. It’s not even because they love their fans and do free drop-in concerts left and right. It’s also because those lyrics call to this writer’s soul.
These guys quote Shakespeare, drop in Plato, take a nod to the Bible, and tug at your heart with a song inspired by a Steinbeck tale. The songs are intentional, intellectual, and unapologetically heartfelt. Their songs feel like book club meets rock concert, and I am here for it. It’s concert season, so I am looking for other Summiteers who might feel the same way I do about this band. Road trip, anyone?
