
Julie Barton has a B.A. in English Literature from Kenyon College, an M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and an M.A. in Women’s Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. Her memoir Dog Medicine, How My Dog Saved Me From Myself, became a New York Times Bestseller after being published by Penguin Random House. The book was initially published by a small press called Think Piece Publishing and was then bought by Penguin. Dog Medicine has been translated into several languages including Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Dutch, French, Italian, and German. Julie has been published in many literary magazines, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She currently publishes a poem daily at juliebarton.substack.com as a part of her regular writing practice. She mentors writers and also teaches generative writing classes both online and in person. She calls Northern California home with her husband Greg, their two daughters, and a small menagerie of pets.
