In a well-written story, every single person plays a role. The hero and villain take center stage on the page and on the screen, but the entire cast of characters is pivotal in making the story work.

Creating these characters and their relationships is part of the joy of writing, but it’s also a source of complexity. What characters does your story need? What roles do they play? How do they relate to one another? And how do you make sure that every single character matters?

In this one-night interactive workshop, you’ll learn the essential archetypes and how each one relates to the main character. Best of all, you’ll write during the class, using prompts to explore the relationships in your story. This is more than excellent practice. You'll generate actual material for your manuscript or screenplay. “My writers often use the pages from class directly in their stories,” says Margaret South.

Join her for a one-night workshop that will make your storytelling and writing process easier and more effective from this point on.

Cast of Characters will answer these questions:

  • What are the common archetypes in storytelling?

  • What characters are musts in your stories?

  • What roles do different archetypes play in the story?

  • How do you develop relationships among characters?

  • How does each character relate to the protagonist?

  • How do your characters drive the action and plot of your story?
