About the Event

In this one-hour reading circle, we’ll explore a powerful and liberating idea: that growth doesn’t end when one kind of success fades—it morphs into a new strength, especially in the season of life past the age of forty.

Drawing inspiration from Arthur C. Brooks’s # 1 New York Times Nonfiction bestseller, From Strength to Strength, this session invites writers and creatives to reflect on how abilities, ambitions, and measures of success evolve over time—and how that evolution can lead to deeper purpose, contribution, and joy.

Rather than clinging to past peaks, we’ll consider how to recognise emerging strengths, redefine what “success” means in this season of life, and continue making meaningful work that connects, serves, and matters. Storytelling and fiction remain vital tools in this journey—not only for personal renewal, but for shaping a more humane and imaginative world.

The conversation will be gently guided by David Paul Kirkpatrick, who has read the book several times. Participants are encouraged to read From Strength to Strength in advance. The book is available via Amazon and Bookshop.org.
